For over 20 years, Michelle has been a specialist in the sexual violence sector, and is the frontline person of Wairarapa Rape and Sexual Abuse Collective Inc. Michelle works directly with clients coming to our service, and her experience and knowledge is highly sought-after in our Wairarapa community. |
Michelle is recognised by other agencies who have worked alongside us and gives valuable input to the sexual violence sector nationally. She has received prestigious awards for services to the industry (including the 2023 Area Commander's Commendation award at the Police Parade for 20 years of service, and a finalist in the 2023 Social Work Leadership Award). Michelle holds a Social Work Registration with ANZASW.
Behind the scenes, Michelle trains as an MMA fighter, earning her a record gold and silver in the World Kickboxing Championship in 2023 in Bali. She is a fierce fighter - both in the ring, and as an advocate for her clients.

If anything needs doing in the office, Mel is the one to go to! Mel has years of experience in administration and is always seeking to learn new things to help our organisation, working tirelessly to keep things moving smoothly.
In her spare time, Mel enjoys cooking and baking, swimming, working out, and anything artsy where she can flex her creativity. |

Ma comes to Wairarapa Rape and Sexual Abuse Collective Inc. with 30 years social work experience in care & protection, youth justice, mental health, probation, family violence and now in sexual harm with our organisation. Ma is responsible for keeping our policies up-to-date (including our Health & Safety), researching policy practices and compliance, and staying updated on the changing trends within the sexual violence sector.
In her free time, Ma loves supporting her mokopuna, and is passionate about whakapapa research and Māori Land Trustee work that keeps her busy.
